Quotes II

Did you know that famous people sometimes say remarkable things? It’s true!

Two quotes today. See if you can guess who said them!!

“Four chambers? Goodness! It is no wonder that plumbing the depths of the human heart has proven such a challenge.”

“It’s a very fine thing, but not as good, I think, as it ought to be. You say he was Irish?”

You’ve probably already guessed it. Both quotes are from Queen Elizabeth! (The current/most recent Elizabeth, not the 16th century mime.)

The two quotes were very nearly a single quote, if not for a momentary break between them. You see, Elizabeth uttered the first shortly after lifting the heart from the open rib cage of a cadaver in a human anatomy class during a tour of the University of Cambridge.

The second quote came just moments later, after the young queen had taken several bites of the raw organ.

Depending on when you read this, the Queen may or may not still be alive. If she has somehow already passed, know that you have sadly missed one of the most remarkable and vivacious 140-something-year-olds the world is ever likely to see.
