Bottomn Feeders

Did you know …

That being a “bottom feeder” has nothing to do with eating butts or eating through your butt? It’s true!

“Bottom feeder” is actually a term for creatures that occupy the limnological niche of the lower levels of lakes, ponds, and rivers. They consume decaying organic matter, microorganisms, and all that icky junk, and they play an essential role in the global ecosystem.

While some bottom feeders may also eat butts or via butts, any overlap is purely coincidental. A true butt-eater is something scientists call a gluteaphage, and, rare though they may be, they also play a vital role in our ecosystem. Without these genuine bottom feeders consuming the world’s saggy, abandoned old butts, we’d all be up to our dicks in asses.
