The way cats do

Did you know …

That cats reproduce by division, through a process similar to cellular mitosis? It’s true! When a cat reaches sufficient age and size, it splits in half, creating two smaller cats.

This brings up a couple of further questions.

The first, of course, is: Do cats have sex? Because they seem to have sex sometimes.
Yes, cats have sex. The better question is why do they have sex. If they reproduce asexually, what’s the reason for having sex? They really don’t seem to enjoy having sex. I mean, I’ve watched a lot of cats doing it (sex), and none of them seemed happy about it. Just a bunch of yowling and twitching. Probably nobody knows the answer to this.

The second question: If cats reproduce by splitting apart, can I make more cats by splitting them apart myself?

Ha ha! If only! If we could make all the cats we wanted whenever we wanted to, we’d all be rich before you could say “machete.” Sadly, however, you can’t force a cat to become two cats simply by chopping it in half unless you drastically alter your definition of what makes a cat. No, splitting your own cats will do little more than land you in jail. And we all know what they do to cat choppers in jail.
